I will be away for this cruise, but while I am gone, I have some craft project blogs that will be published every day at 6 am. I hope you will check them out while I’m away.
I plan on putting up photos on my Instagram and Facebook while we are gone so if you would like to be one of my friends on either site, let me know and I will be happy to add you.
I plan on starting a cruise recap series on the 22nd!!!
Roads trip can be fun if you wear comfy clothes. Planning what to wear 5 weeks before travel is planned can be tricky. Especially when you consider how unpredictable weather in Texas can be!
I have narrowed down my options to 5. I selected outfits that are somewhat appropriate for cold or cool to warm weather as well as a more dressy outfit, just in case. Of course, a lot will depend on of the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl. If they make it, we will leave earlier than normal so we can have a late lunch at the Original Mexican Cafe. If they don’t, then we can leave at our normal time… whatever that is.
The first two outfits I’m considering are the short sleeve sweat suit/loungewear. They are definitely very comfortable.
I other two outfits I’m considering are long sleeve sweat suite/loungewear.; The one that says “Be Kind” is a thicker material than the other one. Both are comfortable.
Any of the sweat suit/loungewear outfits will be worn with my Reeboks because they are comfortable and I love them.
The final outfit I really think I will be eliminating is a pink and black leopard print top, black Lee jeans, and pink and black leopard print slip on shoes. It is not likely to go, unless I decide to take it on the cruise.
All of the outfits shown were purchased at Amazon.com.
So, which sweat suit/lounge wear would you pick for a road trip? At this time, we are planning on making two stops on the way to Galveston because who can drive by a Buc-ees and not stop?
Friday, August 27th… the day I have been waiting for is finally here. It is time for our road trip to Galveston. Of course, we do need to make some stops on our way out of town. But this is nothing out of the ordinary.
First stop is to see mom and bring her some goodies she is likely to run out of while we are away. Things like mini cokes, cookies, and toothpaste. I know she has plenty of toilet paper and kleenex so she should be good in that area. Starting our trip with a visit with mom is always fun. She is so excited for us to be able to get away although she wishes she was going as well.
As with every trip, we need to go to the bank and make sure our cards are flagged as we travel and where we will be. And we need cash. Not a lot of cash, but some cash. We arrived at the bank just after it opened so it was not crowded and we were able to get in and out very quickly.
Now there is one stop that was not planned on. We had to stop at Home Depot because someone, who shall remain nameless, forgot to punch out when he left yesterday. The store manager was very surprised to see us and asked why we were there when we were to be on vacation. Such a nice man. We were able to leave rather quickly after the necessary paperwork was completed. And now we can officially begin our road trip!
For this trip, it was decided we would take Hwy 6 to Galveston and do everything possible to avoid the Houston traffic and road construction on I-45. Our plan is to have two stops before reaching our final destination. One is West, TX and one in Waller, TX.
Our first stop in West, Texas was strictly for trying Kolaches the area is famous for. We stopped at Slovacek’s which was easy to get in and out of. I ordered a lemon Kolache which was very good and Jim ordered a couple of burritos. I decided to also get a turkey and swiss sandwich which I was not a fan of. Luckily I had also grabbed some Cheeto’s and a Dr. Pepper. I do not think this is a place we will return to on our next pre-cruise adventure
No road trip is complete without a stop at Buc-ee’s. We stopped at the Buc-ee’s in Waller, Texas to get gas and to use the extremely clean restrooms. Buc-ee’s is awesome!!!! We did not get any snacks while there which is very unusual for us. Well, maybe I should say very unusual for me!
And just like that, we are checking into our hotel for the night. We stayed at The Commodore On The Beach which is located on Seawall Boulevard. We have stayed here before so we are familiar with the place and location. When we checked in, we were informed that they cable TV was out so there is would be no television available. No problem. We just wanted a place to sleep and enjoy the excellent beach views.
It is our pre-cruise tradition to have dinner at the Original Mexican Cafe. The food is ALWAS great and the service is EXCELLENT. We recommend this place 100000%. I’m already planning on my next trip to eat here!
Now to relax and prepare for tomorrow. Embarkation is always fun.
